About Free Link Directory

Free Link Directory has been helping people find UK websites and businesses since 2007. It started as a free web directory. Today it’s a directory of real UK businesses, organised by town and by what they do.

What makes it different

• Free to list, for good. Any genuine UK business can add itself at no cost.
• No spam. Every submitted listing is confirmed by an emailed link before it goes live. Bots don’t click links in emails.
• Built from open data. We start from public records (Companies House, the Food Standards Agency, OpenStreetMap) and let owners claim and improve their listings.
• Honest ranking. Featured listings are clearly labelled. Everything else is ordered by how complete and useful the listing is.

Our web crawler

FreeLinkDirectoryBot visits business homepages to check listing details are current. It reads one page per site, obeys robots.txt and identifies itself. To block it, add User-agent: FreeLinkDirectoryBot / Disallow: / to your robots.txt.
