| Now and again we hear or read about film stars and famous singers. The number of celebrities in acting and music has escalated because, to a greater extent, of mass media covering celebs' lives andprofessional achievements and enabling them to be seen more often and in different places.
Talent, fame and not much education would be sufficient to make you a millionaire star. Frequently, talent has nothing to do with how much a celeb deserves, should make or profit from a film or album. There are thousands of unknown talented performers who are, obviously, better than some celebs we admire and gossip about. However, their names, if printed, would appear in small print.
Being in the public eye, they set patterns of behaviour for the average person. Frequently they set a negative behaviour pattern for people. In fact, the impact that celebrities have on ordinary people is phenomenal. A lot of young girls do their best to look like celebs and starve to death. A lot of people even have plastic surgery to look like their favorite stars. People try to imitate celebrities, which often results in substance abuse, explicit behaviour and felonies. They often find their lives dull and uneventful than celebrities' and try to behave the way they do to bring variety to their lives.
Celebs' heute couture dresses and costumes, gems, perfect tan and makeup make the average person feel inferior, which leads to the inferiority complex.
Another impact celebrities have on our culture is that of invading one's privacy. Nothing is hidden anymore. Paparazzi pursue their every move and that seems to intrude their right to privacy. They seem to be willing to risk anything to get a photo, which is a negative impact for our culture.
Yet, some celebrities set a positive example by donating money to neglected and abused people, raising money for charity, helping seriously sick children, promoting a healthy biography-fashion among young people.
We should not idealize celebrities, because they have both positive and negative qualities of character, and do make mistakes, too. |
